For Windows

Inkscape 1.1 (the newest version) already installed on your laptop for Windows 7 and higher.

For Windows versions older than Windows 7 (Vista, XP), please use Inkscape 0.92.3​

For Mac

Inkscape 1.1 (the newest version) already installed on your laptop for MacOS version 10.11 or newer.

For MacOS 10.7 - 10.10, you need to install Inkscape 0.92.2 (from 2017) using separate directions for installation found at the same link above and labeled: Installing Inkscape on OS X 10.7 - 10.10 (you'll have to scroll down to find it.)
